Oracle Open World London

Conference

To be honest, it was the first time I had ever attended a professional conference abroad, saving no time and money. I have no regrets.

The size of the event, its organisation, the number of people present and the number of exhibitors were all far beyond anything I had ever seen before.
There were at least eight venues at a time, and judging by the crowds, we had quite a few
thousands.
The presentations could be basically divided into four groups: corporate culture, cloud, buy our product, technology.
Cally Beaton a media expert, gave a presentation on the importance of corporate diversity, the problems it can cause, and how diversity can increase creativity in collaboration.

In another lecture I learned that in a company if you have people from more than one culture, you get 33% more performance, if you have a good ratio of men to women (I hope that's what gender diverse means) you get 15% more growth and, by the way, 70% of British people prefer to buy a product where all kinds of minorities work.

I have met the owner of Illy Cafe in several places as someone who uses Oracle products. Safra Catz (Oracle CEO) talked to him about those "revolutionary" about changesthat have occurred in his company following the use of Oracle products - strictly cloud-based, of course.
Let's just say their coffee is really good.

The final presentation was very interesting, where Tim Peake English astronaut guided us through the process of selection, preparation, launch, daily life on the space station and landing. I didn't really understand how this related to the theme of the conference, but I really liked it.

But, what's really close to my heart is Oracle Application Express. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to a presentation by Marc Sewtz, who is leading a team of 100 people in New York to develop this excellent product. I didn't need convincing.
But I was convinced by his presentation that anyone who uses this product for any business need is on the right train :-).
